If you are suffering from an ear injury caused by an accident, then you deserve financial compensation, especially if the accident was caused by someone else.
Ear Trauma Concerns
Ear injuries can occur anytime and anywhere. However, many ear injuries will happen in the following accidents:
- Workplace accidents and other accidents from explosives or repetitive noises
- Car accidents and truck accidents where an airbag explodes or the head is slammed against a hard surface
There are a number of accidents that can end up in an ear injury. Some of the common ear injuries include the following:
- BPPV
- Hearing Loss
- Tinnitus
BPPV Ear Injury
BPPV occurs when the otoconia in our ears are dislodged into the brain or ear canal. This usually occurs during a serious head injury, such as after a car, truck or motorcycle accident or after a workplace injury. BPPV is also referred to as ear rocks and can result in vertigo episodes that normally last anywhere from 30 seconds to several minutes. Additional symptoms may include dizziness, lightheadedness, loss of balance and vision, blurred vision, light sensitivity, nausea and vomiting. BPPV sufferers will often have trouble working, driving and living a normal life. There are expensive medications as well as a canalith repositioning procedure to try to fix the problem.
Hearing Loss Ear Trauma
Many people who suffer through a car accident will end up with permanent or temporary hearing loss. When your ability to hear is negatively affected, then you will most likely have trouble at home, in public and in the workplace. You may need to completely change your schedule to overcome this disability. There are essentially two types of hearing loss, both of which can negatively impact your quality of life:
- Conductive hearing loss – hearing loss caused by a problem in the external or middle ear.
- Sensor neural hearing loss – hearing loss caused by a problem in the inner ear.
Tinnitus Ear Injury
Tinnitus is the sensation of sound when there is no sound present. This sound is often a ringing or high pitched squeal. This ringing can make it hard to concentrate on everything and anything, from driving to working, from carrying on a conversation to reading a book. Tinnitus occurs when the hair cells called cilia and the inner ear is damaged, usually after a heavy blow to the head or ear. An air bag explosion is often the reason for tinnitus.
